Vintage Foods We Wish Were Still on the Shelves

Some cravings are just impossible to curb, especially when you’re hungry for vintage snack foods that no longer exist. While some of these snacks you can easily remake on your own, others are a little more unique. And even when it can be recreated the one thing it won’t satisfy is the feelings of nostalgia associated with snacks from times-gone-by. 

But, with that in mind, we can still visit some of those past treats. Here are 30 vintage discontinued snacks from our childhoods that we wish were back on the shelves.

Oatmeal Swirlers

With Oatmeal Swirlers, kids could turn their breakfast into a masterpiece. Along with instant oatmeal, a box of Oatmeal Swirlers also came with a tube of red, fruit jelly kids could use to squeeze out drawings on their oatmeal. Ads for Oatmeal Swirlers encouraged kids to get creative with their breakfast, like even use it as a surface to play a classic game of tic tac toe.

McDonald’s Onion Nuggets

When McDonald’s removed their onion nuggets from their menu, fans protested. Petitions were posted. But to no avail. Onion nugget advocates hailed the product for how much easier they were to eat than their clunky ring-shaped counterparts. In spite of their efforts, the McDonald’s onion nuggets have remained off the menu since their discontinuation in 1979.
